Wei Ling stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 106 pounds. She is 24 years old. Her waist-long, raven-black hair is usually worn in a ponytail, with a few strands framing her pretty face. Her dark, almond-shaped eyes and the slightly golden complexion indicate her oriental heritage, hailing from the very east of Faerûn. Ling prefers loose-fitting, comfortable clothing and light boots, and she wears only little, mostly unostentatious jewelry, preferably jade and silver.

Background: Coming from the far east of Faerûn, Wei Ling's family settled in Thesk, where they found a place between the large merchant houses with their skilled craftsmanship. When she was still young, Wei Ling often helped her parents, showing a great talent for bartering and haggling, but once they uncovered the great heritage she was blessed with, the ability to invoke magic, which only few of her relatives were able to, Wei Ling began practicing sorcery and explore her inborn talent with fierce determination. Being different than most others in her 'home' always gave her a slight feeling of not belonging there, and with her powers the urge to travel increased steadily. She wanted to see the wild and distant lands, that the traveling merchants always told stories about.
Her parents soon sensed the growing restlessness in their daughter, and it didn't take long until they complied and let Wei Ling go. Since they didn't want their daughter set out without protection, they used their influence to aquire a few gifts for Wei Ling, that should keep her save on her journey. And so Wei Ling joined up with a trade caravan traveling towards the Moonsea, from where she started her own journey into the Dalelands, Cormyr, the Western Heartlands and finally towards the Sword Coast, experiencing exciting adventures on her way and meeting many interesting people. Thanks to her mercantile background, Wei Ling was slowly gaining wealth and she carefully decided when and what to buy; she had learned quickly, that having a mountain of gold does you no good when you are dead, and therefore she rather spent the coins on equipment to help her survive in the dangerous world.
In Waterdeep, Wei Ling was approached by the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors eventually, after she had made herself a name for being a helpful and resourceful sorceress, and so she became a member of the arcane guild.
