Thema: Encounter: A horned Creature

About 90 ft. from you a massive creature gets ready to charge. With two mighty horns on its nose and its body covered in natural armour plates the view is quite frightening for you.

[Wei Ling]

Looking around, Wei Ling does not see any cover nearby, so they can only stand their ground and rely on their natural and magical defenses. Seeing the heavily armored body of the massive creature, Wei Ling decides, that it would be futile to try her modest martial skills against this threat. Instead, she does what she is best at and begins a quick invocation. Four small shards of jade-green energy race towards the creature and easily penetrate its hide, causing small wounds where they impact on the body.

[Varn]

Varn gasps as all around him vanishes and a new, other environment appears. Althought there is a forest and some more signs of vital vegetation it doens't look friendly at all. Especially the horned creature infront of the group.

As a reaction to the impressive monster he steps back around twenty feets and examines the creature for a few seconds. He never saw such a monster in the woods where he lives nor heard about it by others who were living beside him. But he tries to remember some scrolls and books he read long time ago in the early years of his studies.

[Chik-Cha Crookbeak]

Oh, this was just great. Transmutation her feathered ass, that coward was right with running away, the goddamned place was attacking them. With a quick wave of her Arms, she calls out arcane words and her form flickers and melts into their surroundings. Then, hidden before your eyes, she quickly ran to the side to dodge the incomming charge. That didn't look like it could cast spells, but she tried to remember something about that... whatever it was.

Chik-Cha:

You react fastest and vanish while moving out of the charging path of the creature. You don't notice any magical properties on it.

Varn:

The creature definitely is some type of Rhinoceros, though a quite ancient one as it seems. Such heavy armour plates are uncommon for the ones you know. Also normally they only got one horn. However, from your experience you know that appearing directly before a Rhinoceros out of the void definitely angers such a beast.

Wei-Ling:

Your magic missiles hit the Rhinoceros but that just made it angrier. Snorting loudly it charges towards you at full speed. Luckily your body control is good enough and you manage to dodge the incoming charge.

Rhinoceros:

Missing the charge at full speed the Rhinoceros manages to stop 20 ft. after passing Wei-Ling and turns arround to attack again.

[Varn]

"Try to avoid getting this beast more aggressive then it is ...", the old man mumbles angry.

Varn try to fix to eyes of the angry Rhino and kneels down. With a soft voice he mumbles a few words to the animal and stretches his hands towards the monster. Then he put down his hands on the bottom and slowly crawls a few feet onwards.

[Wei Ling]

“Couldn't you say that before?” Wei Ling responds, then remains still and silent, to allow the old man to do whatever he is doing.

Hopefully he knows what he is doing there... she thinks ...or the beast will just run over him.

Her eyes watch the monster with suspicion, and Wei Ling is ready to cast another spell, should it attack again.

Ready Glitterdust if the creature charges again and comes within 10 feet (of Varn or herself). Center the spell, so it catches only the creature. After the spell make a 5-ft. step to the side.

[Chik-Cha Crookbeak]

Great, they were fighting an animal, of all things. Silently, Chik-Cha creeped through the gras while drawing her trusty enchanted dagger. If this... thing should attack again, she would happily end this fight even if she didn't begin it. Her invisble eyes sharpened as she slowly lifted her talon.

Move 20 feet in the direction of the rhino, ready an attack if it doesn't calm down and starts another attack to throw her magical dagger as soon as it has charged past her.

Chik-Cha:

You bring yourself into position and shoot your dagger towards the Rhinoceros as it charges by. The dagger leaves a wound at its flank but the Rhinoceros continues its charge.

Varn:

You try to calm the Rinoceros but somehow you are still too confused about the whole situation to focus well enough. The Rinoceros totally ignores you and charges towards Wei-Ling.

Wei-Ling:

As the Rhinoceros charges you again you wave your hands and fill the air with glittering dust. The Rhinoceros is quite unimpressed from your spell and charges directly into you. The air leaves your lungs and you can hear the cracking of bones (24 damage). You get knocked back, but manage to stay on your feet thanks to your agility.

Rhinoceros:

The Rhinoceros charges Wei-Ling with full speed ignoring both the dagger from Chik-Cha and the tries to calm it from Varn. Finally it storms through the glittering dust created by Wei-Ling and hits the sorceress with full force.

[Chik-Cha Crookbeak]

Youch, that looked quite painfull. They had to subdue this thing fast or it would do the same to them. Hastly, Chik-Cha ran behind the Rhino, doing an elegant roll while catching the returning dagger. Behind the rhino, she ducked behind it and hacked away with her enchanted weapon. Lets see what this beast could take...

[Varn]

As the old human recognizes that he was unable to calm the rhinoceros down, he stands up again. Suddenly he grows in size and get a tough grey hide with long big pranks which are hanging to the ground. He roars and attacks the animal with a single blow of his right hand.

[Wei Ling]

Even with her magic absorbing most of the impact, it still hurt quite a bit. There was no time to think about that right now, though. The beast had to be taken down. Gritting her teeth and relying on her (mostly) natural agility, Wei Ling disengages from the creature after distracting it long enough for Chik-Cha to make her attack, backing off about twenty feet while leaving the infight to those better versed in the martial ways, and then fires another volley of the jade-green energy-shards against it.

Chik-Cha:

You swiftly tumble towards the Rhinoceros and ram your weapon between the armour plates. The wound isn’t too impressive but impressive enough for the Rhinoceros to turn around and ram its horn into your side (18 damage).  

Varn:

You transform into a troll and try to claw the Rhinoceros but your strike wasn’t precise enough and you just hit one of the thick armour plates.

Wei-Ling:

You tumble back and swiftly move out of the direct path of the Rhinoceros. Standing still again you shoot some magic missiles at it.

Rhinoceros:

The Rhinoceros turns around as Chik-Cha’s weapon slides through its armour plates and rams its horn in his side. Snorting angrily it prepares to attack again.

[Chik-Cha Crookbeak]

With a painfilled sound, the kenku grit her teeth and stayed on her feet, although it wasn't easy. With a small jump, she gets to the side of the beast, flanking it together with Varn to make attacks easyer. Damn, that trick with the troll wasn't bad, she wondered if she could steal that too. Those where her thoughts as she started to hack away hat the rhino.
