As no one is interested in exploring it seems I will skip to the next part.

As you play around with some stones watching the old wizard tiredly he suddenly turns around and says

“Well, that should do it. Let’s speed things up a bit.”

The scenery changes slightly as suddenly there is a big shadow where previously the sun was. From some distance you hear combat noise.

Not bothering turning towards you the wizard answers in a grumpy tone

“I am from Luskan, but not from your timeline. This gate doesn’t have too many connections you know. Most people you will meet here are either from Luskan, as this is the only connection to Abeir-Toril, or they are outsiders. Though I don’t know to which planes the portal connects.”

Silghtly sighing he adds

“…and about what we are doing here better question the others, except you want to disturb me further and end up lost in time because the device isn’t set up proper….”

Then he shakes his head and fully focuses on the device again.

The wizard sighs as he is disturbed again and answers briefly

“No, I can’t send you back right now. As I told the others it is possible to return, but as they decided to accompany me I did not set up my devices for this right now.”

Then he starts to tinker around on his devices again.

Shiroko:

That was a really bad idea….. you think by yourself as you once again put an arrow on your bowstring. Strange demons you have never seen before try to climb the rock you escaped to after being separated from the rest of your scouting party.

You fire your bow once again but suddenly there again is that blurry light and the surroundings change again. Your arrow directly lands before the feet of an old human looking at you quite surprised.

Varn:

An arrow out of nowhere lands directly before your feet. As you look in the direction the arrow came from you see a young woman standing on a rock.

Barely taking notice of you anymore the wizard says

“I don’t think you will find anything special around here. As I said, we are a bit early. But it won’t hurt to know the area I guess.”

With these words he again ignores you and tinkers around on his devices.

As you step out of the gate the landscape seems familiar once again but this time the ruins aren’t nearly as old as the first time you arrived at this place. You can still see signs of fires and skeletons wearing rusty armours and old weapons are lying around all over the place. Thoughtfully the wizard raises a brow.

“Interesting. I thought the incident happened at the original battle, but obviously it happened quite some years later. Surprising but interesting as well.

Anyways, I’m going to build up the devices so we can travel back and you better look around here a bit. If I timed it properly we arrived a few days before the fight took place.”

Turning away from you the wizard starts to tinker arround with some devices and the planar gate.

The wizard nods and you walk back to the gate, finding out what the assistant meant with carrying all his stuff. You bodies ache under all the weight of the equipment you have to carry but you still manage to move.

The wizard nods to his assistant and says

“Alright, you stay here and guard the device. It will be hard to get back when the area gets unstable again.”

With a relieved breath the assistant sits down on a chair at their camp and waves at you looking at all the stuff on your backs and grins.

The old wizard raises an eyebrow at Chik-Cha.

“I’m not in need of protection, but some additional hands and eyes would be useful to have with me. I don’t expect to find any great treasures, it’s more a historian’s work to do. You may keep any valuables you find except scrolls, books and whatever else is of value for a historian. I have minor interest in gold and such.”

Muttering the assistant comments Chik-Cha’s question, silently and more to himself but you are able to hear it.

“He means that he needs someone to carry his stuff…..”

You follow the wizard to the fighting place and watch him casting another spell. He stands still for about an hour and then suddenly his eyes turn black and as you look closer you see pictures appearing and vanishing. You can see people and buildings in his eyes passing by but fail to see any details as the pictures change by far too fast.

After another hour the wizard closes his eyes and shortly after opens them again, showing his original eyes colour again.

“Well, this should do. I also found the timeline you came from. So basically you can either return to your timeline our join us in our expedition, it’s your choice.”

The old wizard looks over to Chik-Cha rather interested in his last words.

“So you did see where the battle took place? That could be rather important to determine the time we need to travel to.”

Then the wizard turns to his assistant.

“Are you done yet? Without stabilizing the time flow in the area I can’t visit the fighting place without getting lost in time.”

With a sarcastic voice the assistant answers

“Yes that would be horrible master. Anyways, I’m done here. You may activate the device now safely….I hope.”

The older wizard immediately raises his hand and performs a little gesture and mumbles some words. Suddenly the crystals of the device start to glow in a soft blue light. Then he eyes his assistant again.

“Mhm, looks good. Now we need a volunteer to see if it works….”

With a deep sigh the assistant starts to put on some heavy looking suit and picks up one of the crystals in the chest beside him. Then he walks away from the portal an vanishes between the rocks. After about 10 minutes he returns and holds up the crystal.

“No temporal activity it seems. Should be save now.”

The old wizard turns to Chik-Cha and the others again

“Now, please show me the place where you did see the fighting.”

Turning away from Wei-Ling the wizard answers Varn

"Well, this place seems to be kind of special. Obviously there was a fight around here and someone called for the help of the elven god of time, Labelas Enoreth, and as it seems that prayer was answered. Though the permanent damage to the area was rather devastating.

I’m not sure what purpose this disturbance in time serves but there is one I suppose as Labelas Enoreth would have fixed it already. Me and my assistant try to figure this out by stabilizing the time instability around the gate and use it as a way to travel into the time when it was created. "

With a deep sigh and the hand on his forehead the older wizard turns towards his assistant.

“Oh not another one…..”

Then he turns to you and says

“Well, if you wonder if we are causing this time rift, no we aren’t. The magic working in this area is by far greater then anything a mortal could ever create.”

With a scholarly voice he continues.

“However, my assistant and I are working on a device stabilizing the time rift around the portal and amplify the portals energy to allow precise time traveling through it.”

Then he gestures towards the rocks.

“By the way, I suggest your two friends get over here as well if they don’t prefer to be shifted in another century once again.”
