Cover
Sailors and the Pirates on a ships (including the PCs) have partial cover (+2
to AC and +1 on Reflex saving throws) while those in the
sterncastle have cover (+4 to AC and +2 on Reflex saving
throws), as well as total concealment (50% miss chance)
from the fog cloud.
When making a melee attack against an adjacent target, your target has cover if any line from any corner of your square to the target's square goes through a wall
Total Concealment
If you have line of effect to a target but not line of sight, he is considered to have total concealment from you. You can't attack an opponent that has total concealment, though you can attack into a square that you think he occupies. A successful attack into a square occupied by an enemy with total concealment has a 50% miss chance (instead of the normal 20% miss chance for an opponent with concealment).
A bank of fog billows out from the point you designate. The fog obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. A creature within 5 feet has concealment (attacks have a 20% miss chance). Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker can't use sight to locate the target).
A rogue cannot sneak attack while striking a creature with concealment.
