The Yathrin lashes at the demons, ordering her whips to strike at different targets. Howls of anger emit from the vrock's beak as four of his images disappear. With a deft flick of his wrist, Zhadristan eliminates one more image, leaving only two vrocks in front of you. Talice concentrates for half a moment, then throws he blade at one of the demons, striking deep into its chest. Without hesitation, she calls another blade to her hand. Draezen gets into a fine flanking position and drives his sai into the vrock side, looking for sensible points of power. To his annoyance, the demon is not as wounded as the drow had hoped, even worse, the wound closes as soon as the sai is removed. Draezen attempts to hit the same spot again, but the vrock whirls out of the way. Narzen notes the movement of the demons, jabs out with his rapier and the last image vanishes. Gleefully, he watches on as the other drow descent on their prey, while Rou'sun casts another spell on Malifice. Zouhlnor swing his axe and meets demon-flesh, drawing a nasty gash on the beast's back. The vrock roars up, fixes its gaze on Malifice as the two short swords in the female's hands begin a bloody dance. After four neat slashes, the vrock's head comes to a stop at Kethryllia's feet. For good measure, Iira and Nata'al give the dead demon another couple of jabs. "Bit more excitement than we had hoped for, aye?" Nata'al says to the yathrin, removing some demon blood from her face.

Keth kicks the vrock's head away, "Filthy creature," says Keth noting that the body of the vrock has remained behind.
"I wonder who called it. Search the dead for anything of value, and lets proceed to the temple." says Keth as she points her wand at Malifice's wounds.

The scout draws nearer to the priestess, while, with a flick of her wrist, makes her weapon dissapear. "So you do not want to seek shelter first and go straight towards the temple?" She looks towards the others, then adds: "Well, I did not spend that much magic so far ..." (Talice that is)

The Dire Hand looks down at his sai in disgust and tucks it away. For good measure, he stomps the demon's beaked head with the heel of his boot, grinding it into bone fragment.
Snapping his gaze upon the others, Draezen asks "Where to now?"

Nata'al notes the action of Draezen and says: "Nae need to get frustrated. Them demons are resistant to almost all weaponry. I could have hit it all day with this saber of mine without scratching it either ..."
As for the question, she turns her eyes on the yathrin.

"Shelter in the temple?" Zhadristan says to Talice, "I'd be content if it was merely deserted."

He uses his ability to detect magical auras to scan a few nearby dead for (small) magical equipment.

Talice gives Zhadristan a look as if she didn't get his question. (i.e., read again)
No magic aura comes from the dead (those on the plateau), apart from the vrock, who carries a magical ring on a shor chain around the base of its left wing- It can easily be removed.

Keth listens to Talice, "Then find us a secure place, a slight change and renewing of the power the Goddess grants, is a good suggestion," says Keth,. "and will give the mages a chance to look at that ring."

Relieved to see the demon dead Rou'sun relaxes slightly.
After a moment he looks in the direction where the giant went.

The giant has wandered off towards the camp, still confused by the cloud. As he sees his charges under attack, he gives a ground-shaking roar and runs towards the battle that is still in progress at the northern gates.

Talice nods and scans the surrounding fortresses. She takes a measure of the plateau too, then heads towards a small stronghold-pillar that looks utterly destroyed by fire. It belonged to another, larger compound, but the walls and bridges connecting it to that fortress have all gone, being melted away or shattered by magic. As you draw nearer, the scout slows the pace and checks the area with some minor magic. "The defensive enchantments are all gone, which I had hoped. Now lets see if we find some floors which are still intact in that pillar!"
Again, dozens of rotting corpses lie about near the wall, but the pillar itself is 'clean', as the fiery magic burned anything inside to the bones and dust. You manage to climb up and inside trough a whole and then move upwards along various wounded stairs and ramps. Some 80 feet above plateau level, Talice stops in a room which must have been one of the battle platforms. Windows to each side lead to balconies armed with ballistae and the like, most damaged beyond repair by the fierystorm. The brittle bones of about 10 drow lie about. Scavenging through them, Rou'sun comes away with some items not burned, such as an adamantine dagger, two adamantine short swords, an amulet and a jet-black ring. All are magical.
From this vantage point, you have a far better view of the city below, even though it is still obstructed by heavy banks of smoke. Nothing alive ... or undead ... comes your way or even looks in your direction at the moment.

As the demon's head rolls towards Keth, Malifice pauses and catches her breath.  "Malla tlu Lolth."  She says as she wipes the demon's ichor from her blades.  She makes no other comment and simply stays close to Keth as the party advances on.

After making herself familiar with the rooms next to the battle platform, Nata'al comes towards Kethryllia and asks: "Malla yathrin, I'd like tae investigate that tower a bit further, if ye don't mind. Don't like surprises and a'. One of the males could back me up." Scanning the room, Nata'al points at Narzen. "Him maybe? We'll be back soon enough."

For the time being, Rou'sun takes the amulet, the ring and the dagger for himself. The two short swords he puts onto the floor. "These are magical," he tells the others.
Then he walks over to Zhadristan. "May I ask you, where you and your companions come from?" he asks.
